“Investing in cybersecurity not only shields against risks but also drives tangible gains—improving the business climate, attracting investment, boosting consumption, and enhancing competitiveness,” Loudyi said. He added that digital trust builds confidence among citizens and companies while enabling the shift toward a secure, sustainable digital economy.
Morocco’s Digital Progress
Loudyi highlighted Morocco’s “remarkable progress” in digital transformation in recent years, from expanded public digital services to upgraded digital infrastructure, making access easier for citizens and businesses while improving government efficiency.
Cybersecurity as an Economic Necessity
Echoing his remarks, Minister of Economy and Finance Nadia Fettah warned that the digital revolution, though transformative, brings rising cyber risks—particularly as AI tools make attacks more sophisticated.
“Cybersecurity is not an option but an absolute necessity, essential for strong economies and citizen trust,” Fettah said, calling for international cooperation, capacity building, and solidarity in fighting cybercrime.
Meanwhile, Minister Delegate for Digital Transition Amal El Fellah Seghrouchni stressed cybersecurity’s role in safeguarding sovereignty, restoring citizen trust, and ensuring continuity of public services.
She cited alarming figures: a 236% surge in DDoS attacks targeting websites in the MENA region during Q2 2025, highlighting the urgency of coordinated defenses.
“A trusted digital environment signals that modernity rests on control, innovation on responsibility, and public performance on protection,” she noted.
Regional Cyber Week 2025
Running from September 15–19 in Rabat, Regional Cyber Week is organized by Morocco’s General Directorate of Information Systems Security (DGSSI) in collaboration with the Arab Regional Cybersecurity Center.
Themed “The Future of Cybersecurity: Digital Sovereignty for Sustainable Economic Development”, the event gathers government leaders, cybersecurity experts, and private sector innovators from Morocco, the Arab world, and Africa to debate cyber-resilience in an era of emerging technologies.
